Write. Review. Target. Revise.Cover letter writing is an art. While there are suggested formats and samples to review, letters can vary widely. Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that the job of the cover letter is to get you an interview. It is not a repetition of your resume, though it should entice the reader to read your resume.
The actual writing of the cover letter comes after researching the employer, reviewing and deconstructing the job description, and plugging yourself into the job description, i.e. selecting top areas of the job description where you have solid knowledge, skills and/or experience.
Your goal should be to make the reader's task of evaluating you vis a vis the job description easy. Remember that there may be various readers—an assistant with a checklist of qualifications, committee members who wrote the job description, or sometimes a computer scanner that counts key words.
The below samples and outline will get you started or help you refine the letters you are already writing.

Mr. Forson Lewal
Ag. Human Resource Manager
Bole National Park
Dear Mr Lewal
Re: Environmental Scientist position
I am writing to apply for the position of Environmental Scientis at Bole National Park as advertised recently on JobWebGhana.com.
I am a recent graduate in Environmental Science with a Bachelors Degree from Univeristy of Ghana. I offered my National Service as a Teaching Assisting in the Environmental Science and Ecology Lab due to my strong academic credentials.
At Ecology Lab, I have worked on several projects with Lecturers, including the effect of stinks in our society and the popular club neat project for mango production. All projects required a high degree of environmental monitoring and planning, including regular review audits and impact assessments and a carefully planned environmental management plan to minimise environmental liabilities and risk, and maximise the efficient use of resources.
I maintain an excellent knowledge of environmental systems and practices, in addition to a working knowledge of environmental regulations and industry codes and a student member of Ghana Environmental Protection Society.
I am committed to my work and have a passion for the environment combined with a firm dedication to organisational goals. I believe I could make a valuable contribution to the Bole National Park team and would welcome the opportunity to discuss the position with you further.
Yours sincerely,[sign here]
